Police Log: Geese, Eggs, A Mailbox

Information about the following incidents was supplied by the East Greenwich Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, July 22

10:30 a.m. – Police interviewed a teenager, 17, in connection with a mailbox knocked over on River Farm Drive earlier the previous night. She admitted striking the mailbox early Monday morning while driving on River Farm. She didn’t report the incident, she said, for fear of getting in trouble. Police gave her a traffic court summons.

11:10 a.m. – A Warwick man told police he’d seen a driver hit some geese on South County Trail near the former Bostitch building. The driver appeared to be young and looked panicked but she drove off after hitting the geese. Police found three geese dead in the road and a fourth on the side of the road that died soon after police arrived.

6:59 p.m. – A King Street resident told police someone had damaged a front window screen. It appeared to police as if someone had attempted to remove the screen.

9:35 p.m. – A Sycamore Drive resident alerted police to an Ford SUV resting against a tree on the side of her house. She’d been inside her house when she heard a loud crash. The vehicle was locked and there was no driver. Police tracked the car’s registration to a Providence man who said he’d left his car parked in front of his in-laws on Cypress Court (which comes off of Sycamore Drive). He said the car was a standard and the emergency brake must not have been pulled up all the way.
