Police Log: Parent Angered Over Bus Employee Arrest

Information about the following incidents was supplied by the East Greenwich Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Oct. 28 

2:10 p.m.  – A Friendly Road resident reported to police that someone had vandalized her car the week prior. According to the woman, someone had scraped several letters (some unreadable) into the hood of her car. There are no suspects at this time.

Tuesday, Oct. 29

8:32 a.m. – A local contractor working on Cedar Avenue found a firearm lying in the mulch near the tree line. The weapon turned out to be an Airsoft rifle, according to police and is nonlethal. It was seized and stored in evidence before being destroyed.

5:53 p.m. – Police arrested Michael Allen Wood, 34, of 18 Leland Ave. in Warwick on charges of driving with a suspended license.

 

Wednesday, Oct. 30 

5:15 p.m. – Police arrested James Alberto Casey, 41, of 110 Ewing Rd. in North Kingstown on a Superior Court bench warrant. Casey was found trespassing near the Amtrak train tracks near the Legion Hall. A check of his identification found he was wanted on a bench warrant.

 

Friday, Nov. 1

 11:16 a.m. – An East Greenwich parent allegedly made a scene at the office of Ocean State Transit, which handles the school district’s bussing. According to reports, the parent was angered that his daughter was on a bus with someone who is accused of a crime in another incident. The father yelled at the manager about the company’s hiring practices and demanded the home address of the person accused of a crime. Police tracked down the man, who admitted he was upset and should not have gone to the bus company. An EG bus monitor was recently arrested on charges of possessing child pornography.

4:57 p.m. – Teri E. Gardner Desmarais, 50, of 52 Euclid Ave. in Warwick was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license.

 

Saturday, Nov. 2

3:58 p.m. – A Warwick man turned in a baseball bat carrier he found at Eldridge baseball field to police. The carrier contained two bats and several gloves.
