Police Log: Toppled Gravestone, Unsafe Truck

Information about the following incidents was supplied by the East Greenwich Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.


Monday, Oct. 15

9:03 a.m. – A Sanctuary Drive resident told police of a fraudulent purchase made using her credit card, for $440 in sneakers at the online Champs store. The shoes were to be picked up a Champs store in Rhode Island. She asked police to contact her if a suspect was found.

Tuesday, Oct. 16

9:47 p.m. – Police arrested Vincent Cosme, 19, of Pequot Trail, for disorderly conduct after he behaved in a threatening manner toward a family member during an argument. During the argument, an elderly family member was pushed out of the way and injured her right arm.

Wednesday, Oct. 17

2:52 p.m. – A West Warwick woman reported inadvertently knocking over a gravestone at the East Greenwich cemetery on First Avenue. She had been visiting her grandmother’s gravesite when she backed into another gravestone, knocking it over. Police contacted the cemetery caretaker, who told police the stone was not damaged.

5:32 p.m. – Police cited a Cranston man for driving an unsafe truck after he was stopped on South County Trail for an August 2009 inspection sticker. There was visible body rot all over the truck and it was leaning to the left. Upon further inspection, police saw rot in several places but especially in the rear of the driver’s cab.

8:53 p.m. – Police arrested Tria Graichen, 36, of Church Street, on a bench warrant after she was stopped for crossing the double yellow line while driving north on Main Street. She told police she swerved while plugging in her cell phone. Routine checks turned up the warrant. She was processed at the station, made bail and was released.
