Police Log: 18-Year-Old Charged with DUI, EGPD Catch Wanted Rape Suspect

The following information was provided by East Greenwich police. It does not indicate a conviction.

POSSIBLE SCAM
A Cumberland man looking for a place to rent told East Greenwich Police on July 14 that someone was using a property on Sleepy Hollow Road in a craigslist ad in what appeared to be a scam.

The man said he responded to the ad and spoke with a man who offered to FedEx the keys if he sent a $500 deposit. The house supposedly belonged to a man who said he's currently living in California and his wife is on a Christian Crusade in West Africa.

craigslist eventually flagged the ad and removed it. No money changed hands and police later responded to the house in question where the owners said they listed the house for sale on July 12 but were not renting it. The family has been living there for 12 years, police said.

Police documented the incident.

DUIs
Police charged Luc M. Mailloux, 22, of 66 Scrabbletown Road, North Kingstown, with driving under the influence July 17 at 1:22 a.m.

Police said Mailloux was seen by an officer on patrol on South County Trail as he drove erratically in front of Cumberland Farms.

Mailloux appeared to be trying to get into the parking lot but had trouble and officers watched him drive onto a sidewalk, drive in reverse in the wrong lane for about 100 feet and then drive onto the sidewalk again before finally reversing in the wrong lane far enough to find the entrance to the lot.

The store was closed at the time, police said, and Mailloux told police he had four drinks before failing a field sobriety test.

He was taken into custody without incident and later registered a .196 and .193 in two preliminary breath tests at police headquarters.

Along with the DUI charge, police cited Mailloux for a lane roadway violation.

Police charged Anna F. Palmer, 18, of 274 Moosehorn Road, East Greenwich, with driving under the influence and refusing a chemical test July 18 at 12:49 a.m.
Police said Palmer pulled into her driveway while police were at the house investigating a report of an intoxicated female standing in the road.
Police responded to the address and found no female, but they did see a black Hyundai Santa Fe parked on the side of the road. Officers also saw several Coors light beer cans and a bottle of wine next to the Hyundai along with an "unknown liquid substance which was still fresh on the pavement near the Hyundai," according to a police report.

Police said they followed a trail of beer cans to the backyard pool area but couldn't find anyone.

A few moments later, Palmer arrived in her car, police said, along with two other females including the driver of the Hyundai.

Palmer said Palmer showed signs of intoxication and failed a field sobriety test. A shot glass was found in her back pocket.

Police said a search of Palmer's car turned up an empty six pack of Samuel Adams and several bottles of liquor.

She was taken into custody and later released with a July 29 court summons.

On July 18, police charged William Michael Tenaglia, 41, of 52 Moccasin Trail, Cranston, with driving under the influence after he was involved in a motor vehicle accident near Division Street and Sanctuary Drive at around 2:10 a.m.
Police said they responded to the crash report and found Tenaglia leaning against a stone wall. He appeared drunk, police said, and failed a field sobriety test.
Nobody was seriously hurt in the crash, but police said a 23-year-old woman did suffer injuries.

Tenaglia, however, was uninjured but his truck suffered severe damage, police said.
He registered readings of .187 and .184 in two preliminary breath tests at police headquarters.

He was later released with a July 25 court date for arraignment.

DOMESTIC
Police charged Michael P. Martin, 20, of 143 Hamilton Ave., Warwick, with domestic disorderly conduct and domestic vandalism July 17 at 8:28 a.m.
Police said Martin became angry during an argument and broke down a bedroom door.

WARRANT
A man who had been skirting felony rape charges since 2009 was arrested by East Greenwich Police after he was found in a car stopped for making a left turn without using a blinker July 19.

Police said an officer saw a white Toyota turn left onto First Avenue from Main Street at around 7:13 p.m. Inside the car was a passenger, Anselmo Morales Nas, who had two active warrants, the first being a Superior Court Bench Warrant for first-degree sexual assault. He also had a warrant for third-degree sexual assault.
Morales was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston.

Court records show Morales was charged with the first-degree rape charge in 2009 by Providence police. The warrant was issued on May 4 of 2009.

NO TRESPASS
A North Carolina man who has been sleeping in his car and frequenting the Main Street CVS was asked to stop shopping there after he made employees uncomfortable on July 20.

Police said the manager said the man had come in several times, including two instances where he was barefoot.

In the most recent instance, the man came in to return a bottle of shampoo because he was unhappy with it. He then reportedly started expressing his displeasure at corporate america and questioned the manager's qualifications as well as asking if she knew what CVS's mission statement was.

The man told police he was denied a refund due to a lack of receipt.
A no-trespass order was issued.
