Raccoon Problem And Splattered Eggs

Information about the following incidents was supplied by the East Greenwich Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.


Tuesday, August 7

12:29 a.m. – Police stopped a Cranston woman driving on Division Street after her car crossed the fog line (the white line on the right side of the road) three times. Police asked her to recite the alphabet starting at G, which she did without problem. On a routine check, however, police learned her car was not registered. She said she didn’t have the money for it. She was issued a summons, her car was towed from the scene, and a friend arrived to give her a ride.

11:20 a.m. – A River Farm resident reported eggs had been thrown at her front window and roof. She and her family had been away and she thought it happened while she was gone.

Wednesday, August 8

10:30 a.m. – A Potowomut man told police he saw someone driving a minivan back into a car owned by a Cowesett woman on Peirce Street by EG Free Library. He provided police with the license plate number of the minivan. The Cowesett woman said there didn’t appear to be any fresh damage.

11:07 a.m. – A resident of Castle Street reported a raccoon was attacking a cat but by the time police arrived both animals were gone. The woman and other neighbors there’s a problem with raccoons at a house on Long Street.

12:18 p.m. – A Marlborough Street resident told police someone had stolen an iPad Nano and an iPhone car charger from the glove compartment of a family car while it was parked outside the house on the street. One door was unlocked, she said.

8:31 p.m. – Police arrested Matthew McCoy, 30, of New Lexington Road in North Kingstown, for driving with a suspended license after he was pulled over on Frenchtown Road because one of his brake lights was out.
