Stolen Bar Stools & A Burned Hand

Monday, August 13

7:57 a.m. – A River Farm Drive resident told police someone had smeared mustard all over the back window of his mother-in-law’s car while it was parked at the River Farm residence. It happened, he said, while they were out the previous evening.

11:45 a.m. – A Sunset Drive resident complained about text messages from his ex-wife’s boyfriend. The messages were not real threats, but police contacted the boyfriend, who said it was all a misunderstanding and would cease.

6:13 p.m. – An employee of Liberty Title reported someone damaged the dashboard of her car and stole the AM/FM CD radio while it was parked across the street at the United Methodist Church lot Liberty Title employees use. She said the car had been unlocked and the theft took place between 2 and 6 p.m. Police had no leads but they did learn from Warwick police a similar theft took place at the Showcase Cinema parking lot at Division Street in the same time period.

9:21 p.m. – A Shippee Road resident told police he’d received a threatening voicemail to the effect of “I am going to kill that guy.” The resident said the voice sounded like that of a business associate who had invested a large sum of money with the resident in a deal that did not pan out. The resident said he told the associate he would repay the investment. The call came from a Providence-area cell phone. Police reached the owner of the cell phone on Tuesday, Aug. 14, who said he was the resident’s landscaper and he had just burned his hand while cooking and didn’t realize he was being recorded. The resident said he was satisfied the Aug. 13 call was not threatening after all.

Tuesday, August 14

1:25 p.m. – A woman reported seeing two dogs in a car parked at 1000 Division Street both before and after getting her nails done. At the time, it was 88 degrees out and humid. When police arrived, the car was still there, with windows rolled down an inch or two and the dogs still inside. The back door was unlocked so police were able to remove the dogs. The owner of the car, a Wakefield man, came out at that point. Police gave him a verbal warning, saying dogs should be left in a car in those conditions for more than 20 minutes.

Wednesday, August 15

1:12 p.m. – Police arrested Michael Chenault, 22, of South County Trail, for disorderly conduct after he flipped a coffee table over during an argument with his girlfriend, who lives with him but told him she was moving out. Police gave the girlfriend domestic violence pamphlets and Chenault was taken to the station, where he was processed and held for the bail commissioner.

2:22 p.m. – A customer of the Harbourside told police she saw a man putting two bar stools into the back of his truck. Initially, she wasn’t sure if he was authorized to take the bar stools but decided to report the incident.

4:11 p.m. – Police arrested Robert Campion, 38, of Markwood Drive in Barrington, for driving with a suspended license after he was stopped for failing to make a complete stop at the intersection of Division Street at Kenyon Avenue. Campion told police about the suspension. Routine checks also turned up a cancelled registration. He told police the car belonged to his ex-girlfriend but that she knew he had it. He was issued a court summons and a citation and released. His car was towed from the scene.
