Waterfront Woes: Towed Cars, A Fight, Stolen Booze

Friday, August 31

12:01 a.m. – Police were called to Water Street on a report of a fight in progress. They met with two employees of Blu on the Water who were off work and near Nautika. They said a patron of Blu that had been aggressive toward them and had been kicked out found them at Harbourside and had punched one of them. Harbourside bouncers, however, said the two Blu employees had grabbed the other man, knocked him to the ground, punched and kicked him, then ran off. The man allegedly punched and kicked also left Harbourside. Police said they could charge the Blu employees if the other man pressed charges.

6:48 p.m. – Police arrested Nathan Bianco, 26, of Cedar Grove Drive in Exeter, for simple assault after he followed and then punched a man he had been in a fight with at the Harbourside the night before. According to the report, Bianco followed the man after seeing him on Main Street into the parking lot at Dunkin' Donuts, where he accosted the man, punching him and pouring out a water bottle on him.

8:31 p.m. – Police had two cars towed from Queen Street at Castle Street because they were parked illegally.

9:14 p.m. – Police had a car towed from a No Parking zone on King Street.

10 p.m. – Police had a car towed from a No Parking zone on Queen Street.

11:44 p.m. – While police were arranging to have a car parking in a No Parking zone on Duke Street the owner appeared. Police allowed him to pay the tow fee and have the car left in his driveway nearby. Because police also found the car registration was expired, they confiscated the plates.

Saturday, Sept. 1

1:18 a.m. – Police arrested Christopher Hodge, 26, of Quaker Lane in Warwick, for driving with a suspended license after he was stopped for driving without a seat beat at Water and King streets. He was issued a court summons and released. A friend arrived to drive the car away.

1:42 a.m. – While on routine patrol, police noticed an open door and lights on at Norman’s Tap. The owner of the bar and two patrons were still inside and one patron was seen by police drinking a beer. Police told the three to leave and followed up with a Municipal Court summons sent to the owner.

8:51 a.m. – A Hyland Avenue resident told police a resident of South Pierce had come to her house to warn her about her niece but that she didn’t want him coming around. Police issued a No Trespass order against the man.

12:40 p.m. – A Duke Street resident reported a violation of a No Contact order by her ex-boyfriend. She said he’d been contacting her even though she’d told him not to but admitted meeting him more than once in recent days. Police advised against further contact.

8:45 p.m. – Police had a car towed from London Street that had been parked in a No Parking zone.

Sunday, Sept. 2

12:20 a.m. – The manager of Blu on the Water reported a patron tried to steal a bottle of liquor from behind one of the bars and tried to run off when confronted. The man told police he wasn’t trying to steal the bottle. The restaurant had a No Trespass order placed against the man.

12:32 a.m. – Police warned the manager of Nautika restaurant that outdoor amplified music had to cease at 12:30 a.m.

1:05 a.m. – Police warned the manager of Blu on the Water that outdoor amplified music needs to stop at 12:30 a.m.

5:37 p.m. – Police had a car towed that was parked in a No Parking zone on Queen Street at Castle Street.
