Woman Arrested For Prostitution

Police arrested Marissa Anderson, 21, of Lincoln Avenue in Fall River, Mass., on Tuesday, Aug. 28, for prostitution after police conducted a sting operation using ads posted online. Anderson was using a room in an apartment at 139 Marlborough Street, according to the police, with permission of the residents there.

A Fall River man contacted police on Monday, Aug. 27, telling them a woman he knew was being held against her will and engaging in prostitution in East Greenwich. He said he'd found ads online advertising her services as a female escort.

Police contacted the woman "Rose" in one of the ads, leaving a voicemail. When she called back, she said she was in East Greenwich and they proceeded to discuss a "hook up." She said she could provide a "GFE" and sex, explaining when prompted that a GFE is a "girlfriend experience."

They discussed meeting times and payment, with the Anderson changing the price several times over the course of some phone calls and text messages Monday and Tuesday. They settled on a meeting time of 4:30 p.m. and "Rose" said to meet on Long Street.

Around 4:30, one officer pulled up and a woman matching the photos accompanying several ads walked over and, according to the report, propositioned the officer to have sex for money, got in his car, and grabbed his crotch. The conversation was recorded, according to police.

Police moved in when the officer and Anderson got out of the car. Anderson was taken into custody. She told police she was staying at an apartment at 139 Marlborough St. Police went to that apartment and spoke with the man and the woman living there. The woman told police Anderson would meet clients at their apartment and have sex with them there and that the her apartment mate, who would not talk to police, would get a take of the money.

Anderson was arrested based on the car recording, text messages and phone calls. She was arraigned and released on $2,000 surety bail.

UPDATE: On July 12, 2013, Anderson pleaded no contest. The case was filed for one year and she was ordered to complete 10 hours of community service.
