Christmas Tree Pickup This Week And Next

This is the week to pull your Christmas tree to the curb for pickup by the town. You should put it out the same day trash is picked up. The town will also be picking up trees next week.

The DPW asks that you only put out your tree as close to the pickup day as possible, so that in the event of snow, the tree won't get covered in snow when the street is plowed.

There are a few other things to keep in mind, too:

  • Trees should be stripped of ALL decoration – including tinsel.
  • Do not put the tree out with the tree stand. That seems obvious, but some small trees are sold with a stand already in place, so it's easy to just put it on the curb that way. DON'T!
  • If you used a plastic bag to get the tree out of your house cleanly, REMOVE THE BAG once it is curbside.
After Jan. 17, you can dispose of your tree at the transfer station off Crompton Avenue, which is open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

If you have any questions, contact the DPW at 886-8620 or 886-8621.
