Primary results: The big two races in East Greenwich were the Republican primary for the state House Dist. 30 seat long held by Bob Watson, and the Democratic primary for School Committee. In the GOP primary, Anthony Giarrusso won – . In the School Committee primary, Carolyn Mark, Deidre Gifford, and Eugene Quinn took the top three spots – . In the state Democratic Senate Dist. 35 race, Lou Raptakis beat David Gorman, 1,168 votes to 761 votes. Raptakis will now face Republican incumbent Glen Shibley in the general election. Unified Volleyball Home Game: This is the first Unified Volleyball game of the season for EG, . And opening night is going to be a EG. Team member Mike Carne urges everyone to come to the game and show their support both for the EGHS team and for unified sports in general: “Please come to this game, it will show what unified volleyball should be in this state and country, as EG has the most UNIFIED volleyball team in the country. Coached by the great Patty Carosotto!” Game time is 3:30 at EGHS.

NK young professionals meeting: Twenty40, the young professional group of the North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce, is holding a trivia night at Sonoma Pub on Post Road from 5:30 to 7 p.m. tonight. Tickets are $10 and include entrance to trivia, door prizes, food, and a drink ticket. Twenty40 provides a fresh twist on the traditional practices of networking groups with events appealing to young professionals loosely between the ages of 20 and 40. Although part of the North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce, Twenty40 is open to surrounding communities.

Historic walking tour this Saturday: East Greenwich historian and author Bruce MacGunnigle will lead a walking tour of the town's historic Hill neighborhood along Peirce Street and Main Street on Saturday, Sept. 15. The one-mile, 1 1/2 hour tour – sponsored by Friends of the East Greenwich Free Library – will begin at 10 a.m. at the library. It will include Rose Cottage, the Boy Scout House and The Elms, and will end with a tour inside 71 Peirce Street, the home of Trevor Cain, who has restored a 19th century building that formerly housed a church rectory and the URI extension service. Refreshments at the library after the tour. There is no charge for the tour, but a guide to the hill and harbor district will be available for $2.
