Senior Luncheon-Dance, Budget Session & Compost

Seniors Luncheon, Dance: EG Senior Services is holding its Anniversary Luncheon and Dance at noon today at Swift Community Center. ROMPS (Retired Old Musicians Playing Swing), an 18-piece ‘40s style band, will provide the music. Lunch includes a salad, pineapple glazed chicken breast, potato wedges, vegetables and dessert. More On The Budget: The Town Council meets tonight for a budget work session at the ’s Community Room (for agenda, see right). The meeting begins at 7pm and the public is welcome.

Worms & Compost: Just down Post Road at in North Kingstown, master gardeners Claire Chenevert and Earle Perkins are presenting a talk entitled “Black Gold: compost and worms are worth their weight in gold.” They will explain all about backyard composting in a hands-on manner. In addition to describing the different types of compost bins and just what materials should be composted, they will talk about the benefits of red-wiggler worm castings for fertilizer. The lecture begins at 6:30pm; it is free and open to the public.

The first military engagements of the Revolutionary War, the battles were followed one week later by Rhode Island colonial legislature authorizing raising a 1,500-man ''army of observation'' with Nathanael Greene as its commander.

Grass Moon: The full moon was last night, but it will look almost full tonight. According to the website Stardate, the full moon of April is known as the Grass Moon.
