Town, Developers Working to Bring Sewers to New Commons

The Commons at Frenchtown Road is coming closer to approval.

The East Greenwich Town Council and representatives of the Commons at Frenchtown Road development are in the works to bring sewers to the facility, reports the NorthºEast Independent.

EG's Public Works Director Joseph Duarte assured the town council at its Jan. 27 meeting that a sewer connection to the complex would not be a strain on EG's water supply. According to Duarte, that more than one-third of the town's water supply remains unused each day on average.

The Commons at Frenchtown Road is planned for the area off Frenchtown Road adjacent to the old Brown & Sharpe Building. The development would include a big box store, an office building, smaller retail areas, and three stores with drive-thru lanes. Though the majority of the complex is located in North Kingstown, about 25 percent of it falls in East Greenwich turf. The project needs approval from both towns.
