[VIDEO] Town Officials Sworn In

Town Council members re-elect Michael Isaacs as president, and they elect Jeff Cianciolo as vice president.

Michael Isaacs was elected to serve as president of the EG Town Council for the five term in a row and Jeff Cianciolo was voted in as vice president in back-to-back 5-0 votes at Monday night's swearing in ceremony at Swift Community Center.

Cianciolo and Michael Kiernan both nominated Isaacs for the post, noting his diligence and work ethic.

Cianciolo was nominated by Michael Isaacs, but again, that was seconded by Michael Kiernan.

There were many familiar faces at Monday night's swearing in ceremony. That's because there were only two people new to elected office, School Committee members Carolyn Mark and Clark Smith.

But that didn't mean any less pomp. From the EG Police-Kentish Guard-Varnum Continental color guard to the Jubilate Bell Ringers, the evening had plenty of spit and polish.

Highlights included remembrances of Henry Boezi, who died in July and had served on the Town Council for nearly eight years, by Council President Michael Isaacs and Boezi's son, Michael.

In addition, School Committee members Paul Martin and Bob Durant were thanked for their service. Martin was absent but School Committee chair Deidre Gifford noted his devotion to recognizing the good deads of both students and teachers and for his initiation of a School Committee scholarship.

Gifford thanked Bob Durant for his sharp legal mind, his wit, and his ability to disagree amicably.

The School Committee did not convene in session Monday night; they will vote on the new chair and vice chair at their meeting Tuesday, Dec. 4.
