Voting in the Primaries? Register By Sunday

The deadline to register to vote in the primary election is Sunday, Aug 12.


Planning to vote in Statewide Primary on Sept. 11? Your final day to register to vote is fast approaching. New voters (or voters who need to make a change to their voter registration) have until Sunday, Aug. 12 to do so. 

Register this week at the East Greenwich Board of Canvassers' office in Town Hall Monday through Friday this week, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Sunday, Town Hall will be closed, but the EG Police Department will have voter registration forms on hand and will accept them until 4 p.m.

Regular mail ballot application must be received by the Board of Canvassers by Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 4 p.m. Emergency mail ballots will be available on Wednesday, Aug. 22.

Due to last year's , many districts have changed in East Greenwich.

EG voters have three primary contests: a GOP race in the state House District 30 election between Bob Bolton, Antonio Giarusso, and Emil Fachon; a Democratic race in the state Senate District 33 race between Leo Raptakis and Dave Gorman; and between Democrats incumbent Deidre Gifford, and newcomers Carolyn Mark, Eugene Quinn, and Brian Warburton in the town School Committee race – only three of the four candidates can proceed to the general election in that race.

The final day to register to vote in the General Election/Presidential Election is Sunday, Oct. 7. The Board of Canvassers' office will also hold special hours that day, open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for last-minute registrations. 

The deadline for regular mail ballot application for the General Election is Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 4 p.m. Emergency ballots will be available on Wednesday, Oct. 17.
