What Rte. 4 Billboards Would Look Like

Lamar Advertising has presented a plan for two billboards on Route 4 on town-owned land next to the high school.

Lamar Advertising emailed a couple of mock-up photos of what billboards on Route 4 would look like, following an initial presentation to the Town Council Monday night.

Lamar would pay from $7,000 to $17,000 a month in rent, depending on the type of billboard. One proposal calls for one "static" billboard and one electronic board – that would bring the higher rent. The other proposal would be two static billboards.

Councilman Mark Gee spoke out strongly against the idea at Monday's meeting; Council President Michael Isaacs and Councilman Mike Kiernan both advocated exploring the proposal further.

No decision will be made without a public hearing.

What a terible idea and why is the TC even thinking about exploring the proposal further ? Maybe we need to give every politician wannabe an IQ test before they can stand for election. This is a common sense decision - NO !

Ok,here we go again. The town has a chance for income , other than taxes, and people are complaining. First one comment said there are better ways of advertising, if a company wants to invest their money on billboards and pay the town for it, LET THEM. If any one travels this type of advertising is all over up and down the highways. So lets follow EG tradition and not allow it and the state will have land available next to the town land and we get the signs and no money.

I'm not going to get into a P contest with a DA. It just seems that all the scenic roads and mountains have very funny looking trees and vines along them, oh I'm sorry those aren't trees and vines they are power lines.
