Cole Team Finishes Second in Science Olympiad

Team performed as if it wasn't their first RI Science Olympiad, finishing in second among 19 middle schools.

From the Superintendent's field memo this week:

Although there has been a RI Science Olympiad Competition for 25 years, this was Cole's first time ever competing.

Out of 23 extremely challenging events, Cole placed in the top 3 in 9 events and overall and placed 2nd in the state out of 19 middle schools.

Preparations for this competition began back in October, and the student  put in countless hours week after week to build their competition devices, test their devices, work on their problem solving skills after an unexpected break,  and had to prep for some pretty rigorous academic tests in areas of chemistry, physics environmental science, astronomy, meteorology, life science, scientific investigations, anatomy, and measurement.

A special thanks and congratulations must be extended to Mr. Scott, Mr. Frank Lennox, Ms. Ramona McGillivray, and Ms. Sarah Sewatsky.
