Creative Students Shine at Cole's Costume Contest

Students decked themselves out in costumes for the costume contest held during lunch at Cole Middle School.

Students at Cole dressed up in a variety of creative, scary, and funny costumes for the Halloween holiday and annual costume contest. Secretaries Elaine Balkcom and Gloria Gorman judged the contest. Some teachers dressed up for the event as well.

Judges awarded prizes in three categories for each grade level: scariest, funniest, and most creative. Students cheered other classmates on and seemed to have a blast with the event.

"It's something for them to experience," said Principal Alexis Meyer.  She said this event is held every year and that students love it.

"I am pumped for it," said Kellie Gammino, 8th grade student who dressed up for the occasion.

A group of 8th grade boys dressed in Jaguars cheerleader outfits.  They said three of them came up with the idea and the rest of the jumped on board.

"This is my first time doing the contest, and it is so much fun," said 6th grade student, Sophia Andrade.

Winners of the contest include:

8th Grade:

Funniest - Jeremy D., Scariest - Yash D., and Most Creative - Abby A. and Elise W.

7th Grade:

Funniest - Brendan K., Scariest - Katherine M. and Marcos D., and Most Creative - Maggie B.

6th Grade:

Many students participated in the contest, and the judges said it was a difficult decision because so many students dressed in such great costumes.

Maria, this is a system-wide problem for some users. The support team at Patch is looking into it and I hope to have an answer (or, better yet, a solution!) soon. The pictures are all there - if you use a different web browser (i.e. internet explorer, safari) you may have better luck.
