EGHS's Rachel Gammons Picked for State Leadership Award

The program recognizes students who have made a positive difference in their schools and communities.

Rachel Gammons of East Greenwich has been selected as the lone representative of East Greenwich High School to receive a 2014 LeadershipAward from the state.

The program has been running since 1993 and Lt. Governor Elizabeth Roberts honored Gammons, along with one student from every other high school in the state, at a ceremony at the State Room of the Rhode Island State House on May 19.

The program recognizes students who have made a positive difference in their schools and communities.

Each high school in the state chooses one student that "best embodies the qualities of a student leader," Roberts said.

That leadership comes in conjunction with a dedication to school, learning and community service.
