Goddard Park Goes To The Dogs This Weekend

EGAPL fundraising dog walk, an outdoor movie, wine & beer tasting & more

It’s Thursday, you’ve got no idea what you’ll do this weekend. For
your convenience, Patch is coming to the rescue with the best bets for how to spend your free time. Check out our picks for the local activities to hit and places to explore.

(EG Patch had the wrong date in an earlier version of this story.) The East Greenwich Animal Protection League takes it to the park with its biggest fundraiser of the year - a fun-filled day for walkers and animal lovers alike. Bring your dogs, walk the beautiful trails together, and gather samples of pet-related treats and information offered by participating dog food and pet product companies. Participants also will enjoy music, raffles and a free lunch.

Anyone who raises $50 will receive a 2011 Hound Hike T-Shirt, and the first 150 registrants receive a bag of goodies for owner and pet. All money raised goes towards the shelter, food and medical care of area homeless animals.

Why Go: Get some exercise and help the animals housed at Greenwich Bay Animal Hospital. It’s a win-win!

Why Go: Bring the family and a picnic and enjoy “The Goonies” outdoors. The rain date is Sunday, Sept. 25.

Where/When: Warwick Museum of Art, 3259 Post Rd., Warwick, RI; Friday, 7 to 9 p.m.

Why Go: Support the Warwick Museum of Art while tickling your
taste buds with select fine wines from EG’s Savory Grape Wine Shop, an array of craft beers from local breweries, and a delectable selection of hors d'oeuvres provided by local chefs. Members of the East Greenwich Art Club are also exhibiting their work at WMOA during this event.

Where/When: Roger Williams National Memorial, 282
North Main St., Providence; Saturday, 12 p.m. to dusk

Why Go: Travel around the world in a day in a celebration featuring art, music, dance, food and cultural displays from more than 15 countries.

Where/When: ; Friday, 6 to 9 p.m.

Why Go: The whole family is invited to ring in the new school year with a pizza party, followed by helpful information sessions for parents and a social event (dance, gym sports, Wii) for Cole students.

Pricing: $10 per family
