Drljaca Captures State Tennis Singles Title

The East Greenwich High School junior is the best girls tennis player in the state, and the first from EG to hold the title.

For the third time in three years, EG's Aleksandra Drljaca faced Smithfield's Jenna LaBarre in a championship match. This time she came out the victor, in a come-from-behind 2-1 win Saturday at Slater Park, the Providence Journal reported

Drljaca lost the first set to LaBarre, a senior, 4-6. She came back to win the match winning the second set 6-2 and the third set 6-1.

"We have played a lot and it's always three sets," said Drljaca to the Journal's John Gillooly. "I just needed to play smart tennis."
