EG Hoops Completes Second Season

In the league's first championship game, Ocean State Health and Fitness beat Harris Blinds and Shutters, 60-50.

The Ocean State Health and Fitness ninth and tenth grade boys basketball team won the first Championship of the 2011-12 East Greenwich Basketball Association with a solid 60-50 win against Harris Blinds and Shutters.

With the game being played before a packed house at East Greenwich High School, Ocean State Health and Fitness jumped out to a fast start paced by a hot shooting and fast-break attack.

Led by the shooting of Kyle Matus and Quinn Sullivan, the nets were sizzling and the crowd was abuzz. With Ross Dean playing shutdown defense and Jake Batista ruling the backboards, the Ocean State Health team had a comfortable lead at the half.

During the second half, Harris Blinds made a big comeback to cut the lead to seven. But Ryan Donovan, as he did all night, made some big-time moves and put the game away as the crowd got louder.

Harris Blinds was led by Tom Chase and Sam Alkins, and Sam McLovin, who brought their team back into the game.
