EG's Fazio Running into Success at RPI
Fleet-footed EG native Benjamin Fazio was named Rookie of the Week.
East Greenwich Native Benjamin Fazio has been running into success at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
The freshman won his first weekly track and field award this week when he beat 13 other runners and won the 1500 meters and finished seventh in a field of 24 in the 800 meters at the Engineer's Cup Meet.
The RPI Athletics Department reported that Fazio was the Liberty League Rookie of the Week three times in the fall as a member of the cross country team.
Now, as a member of the track and field team, he's showing similar levels of performance by nabbing the Rookie of the Week award this week.
The team is at home on Saturday at Ned Harkness Track & Field at 11 a.m.
