Girls Soccer Team Defeats Bay View, Heads To State Championship
They will face La Salle on Sunday at noon at Rhode Island College.
The East Greenwich Girls Soccer team defeated Bay View Friday, 1-0, earning them a spot in the Division I state championship against La Salle at noon on Sunday at Rhode Island College.
Both semi-final matches were played at Carcieri Field. La Salle, which is returning to the state championship for the fifth time in six years, defeated Exeter-West Greenwich, 2-1.
Bay View finished just behind La Salle with a 10-1-3 record in the regular season, while East Greenwich finished third at 9-1-4.

EG and Bay View met once during the regular season and it ended in a tie. The EG-BV game was scoreless at the end of regulation play. Three minutes before the end of the second 10-minute overtime period, senior Sarah Beaulieu kicked it in for the Avengers.
