Kyle Carosotto has what's been called the “Eye of the Tiger”- passion for the sport of lacrosse and a determination to win. He is the only junior captain of the lacrosse team.
“Kyle is a born leader," said his co-captain Lucas Stracca. "He is an exciting player to watch, and he has the determination to win."
Carosotto has such love for the sport that it can seem as if he loves lacrosse more than anyone else on the team.
According to fellow junior teammate Colby Sawyer, “Kyle is strong and very much confident as a player. Before games Kyle gets pumped up by listening to his music so he can get ready to win."
In lacrosse, there is a lot of rules and regulations - covering everything from personal fouls and cross checks to slashing, illegal body checks and tripping. As a captain Kyle has to make sure everyone follows those rules and become a better team for it.
Carosotto plays the midfielder position, just like his sports idol, Shamel Braton. Braton is a University of Virginia Cavaliers midfielder and he and Carosotto are similar in many ways.
“Shamel and I both work our butts off in practice and on and off the field of battle,” Carosotto said.
Midfielders have to play offense and defense. They have to score goals as well as protect their own goals.
Outside of East Greenwich High School, Carosotto plays for a travel tournament lacrosse team called Next Level. The team is based out of Warwick but it takes in players from all over Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts.
He also enjoys playing basketball and participating in unified volleyball and track. Carosotto’s ability to run helps him outrun his opponents. His ability to teach others how to play lacrosse is very valuable to the team.
Carosotto has been playing lacrosse for seven years, and all that hard work is paying off. He has already, as a junior, been offered a scholarship to play lacrosse at the University of Albany.
He's not sure if that's where he'll end up, but it's clear that his hard work and dedication to the sport of lacrosse is paying off. - Tyler Burke
