[VIDEO] Kids Turn Out For EG Track Club's Summer Sessions

The free Wednesday evening sessions are full of running, jumping, joyful children.

Something pretty cool is happening at EG High School's Carcieri Field Wednesday evenings in July. The East Greenwich Track Club is holding a summer camp of sorts for children age 4 to 14 ... for free.

That's because it's paid for with the money raised in last spring's 5K Bunny Hop at Goddard Park.

"That was the goal, we wanted to do this for free," said the track club's Cathy Millman. One thought behind the summer sessions was to just get kids active, said Millman. "Everyone can run, and what other sport can you do with kids 4 to 14 at the same time?"

EGHS track team's Tom Sommer, one of the many track team volunteers, said, "This is so much fun. I never had this opportunity. They're making it a sport – it never was before."
