Vounteers Help Keep Historic Hill District Clean

Town officials said Saturday's cleanup was a resounding success.

Thanks to the hard-working hands of a group of volunteers, the cleanup for the Historic Hill District was a success.

Muncipal Planning Technicial Juliana M. (Berry) King, who also got her hands dirty, said many bags of trash were collected and "new friends were made."

King offered thanks to all the volunteers, the Main Street Association, the town itself and everyone else who made the cleanup a success.

Volunteers fanned out from Academy Field, picking up litter around Swift Gym, St. Luke's Church, Olney House and the Town House buildings. Then, they ventured to Pierce, Rector, Brayton, Spring and Main Steets.

"The word was spread on keeping East Greenwich pristine; all in all it was a success!" King said.
