Five Things: Academy Field Concert, Pre-Concert BBQ

Free pre-concert BBQ at St. Luke’s: If you’re planning to attend the concert at Academy Field (see below) you can stop by St. Luke’s for dinner first. The meal is open to all and is free.

Live Music on Academy Field: One of the best parts of summer in EG are the free Thursday evening concerts at Academy Field, located next to the Swift Community Center, sponsored by the EG Parks & Recreation Department. Each week a different performer is featured. This week features Illusions Band. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. In case of rain the concert will be take place in the Swift Community Center. From 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Weather: More muggy weather, with possible thunderstorms remain in the forecast, with a high of 81 degrees.

On Friday …

Children’s performance: Come on down to the EGHS auditorium for the weekly children's performance series sponsored by the EG Parks & Recreation Department. Each week a different performer is featured. This week’s show is called Mad Science, an interactive science-magic show. Parents must accompany their child and there is no admission fee or pre-registration required. From 1:30 to 2:15 p.m.

Bobby Justin at the American Legion: Bobby Justin is a vibrant performer who has been entertaining audiences of all ages for more than 30 years. You can currently find Bobby performing all over New England, including as a regular on Bay Queen cruises. The performance at the American Legion hall on Main Street starts at 7 p.m. and a donation of $7 at the door is requested.

On Saturday …

Wickford Art Festival: The popular annual art festival returns for the 51st time this weekend. Stroll the streets of downtown Wickford and check out the more than 200 artists who will be exhibiting their work. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
