Recycles Pickup This Week: This is the week to pull your big blue toter to the curb for pickup on your regular trash pickup day In addition, the town is collecting yard waste every week this month. For more information, check out the town’s DPW website here.

Indoor farmers market: Check out East Greenwich's Indoor Winter Market this afternoon. "Arts & Farms" will be open from 3 to 6 p.m. serving hot coffee and selling many of your grocery needs. Say hello to our pet goats, Peaches-n-Cream and Trinity, and bring your kids to the weekly story hour from 5 to 6 p.m. by Wendy Fachon. EG Housing Authority meeting: On the agenda is an update on the 2880 South County Trail Development. For the full agenda, click here. At 146 First Avenue. 4:15 p.m.

EG Historic Preservation Society meeting: This month’s meeting features Chester Browning, who will tell about poor farms and how they evolved into state institutions like the Ladd School and Zambarano Hospital. Poor farms were 19th-century institutions where impoverished residents could get local food and shelter in exchange for whatever work they could perform. Browning is a retired photographer for the R.I. State Police. He created a database of state pauper cemetaries. The meeting begins with a pot luck supper at 6:30 p.m.; Browning's program begins at 7:30. The meeting is free and the public is invited to attend. Schools Mental Health Subcommittee meeting: This panel meets in the Superintendent’s Conference Room at the School Department at 8:30 a.m. Here’s the agenda.

Cindy-Wood Garden Club meeting: An Ikebana workshop led by Eileen DiChiara will be the program at the monthly meeting of Tuesday’s Cindy-Wood Garden Club. Ikebana is a Japanese style of flower arranging that emphasizes graceful lines, natural shapes and few flowers. School Committee meeting: The agenda includes approvals of policies on criminal checks and confidentiality, as well as recognitions and approvals of winter sports coaches. In the library at Cole Middle School at 7 p.m.

Land Trust meeting: The panel meets at 7 p.m. in the conference room across from Council Chambers at Town Hall. Here’s the agenda.

On Wednesday …

EGHS PTG meeting: Parents and guardians of EGHS students are welcome (and encouraged!) to attend Wednesday’s PTG meeting. In the cafeteria at 9:30 a.m.

Learning & the Brain In Early Children Ed: Early childhood education expert Paula Carreiro will speak about a child’s brain and the importance of educational practices which promote its development. At Rocky Hill School at 9 a.m.

Universal Children’s Night at Cole: The Cole Community has been working all fall to bring you an amazing array of international learning opportunities, some serious, some fun, all remarkable. There will be food, music, games, art and lots of Cole Middle School positive energy. From 5 to 8 p.m. Adults $10, children $5.

Want to be a Boy Scout? Troop 1 EG welcomes new Boy Scouts, and Cub Scouts who are transitioning upward. They meet Wednesdays at 80 Queen St. 7 p.m. For more information email: troop1eg.committee@gmail.com.

Cole’s ‘Annie’ (@ EGHS): Cole Middle School students present “Annie,” in the auditorium at EGHS. 7 p.m.

Dodging for a Cure Dodgeball Tourney: Dodg'n for a Cure is a dodgeball tournament fundraiser to benefit the Gloria Gemma Resource foundation. All proceeds from registration and silent auction will be donated directly to Gloria Gemma. Tyler Ferra is holding the tournament as his senior project. On Saturday …

Arts in R.I. Handmade: Handmade goods like jewelry, ceramics, photography, ornaments, and more, amid a festive, welcoming atmosphere. Where the snowmen are – in the Red Barn, 30 Middle Road. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Beer Tasting @ Varnum Armory: If you like beer, then you'll love this event!  The Varnum Continentals' 4th Annual Autumn Beer Tasting takes place Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Varnum Memorial Armory. The antique Gatling gun and military machine guns from the Armory Museum will be on exhibit during the event. Proceeds benefit our efforts to preserve history, promote patriotism, and provide education to young people and adults alike. In partnership with The Savory Grape Wine Shop, this event will feature a wide range of artisan beers (from pilsners to porters) and light appetizers. Also, we will offer tours of the armory's world-class collection of military memorabilia and armaments. Advance tickets are $20 per person. Tickets sold at the door on event night are $25 per person. Annual Hill and Harbour Turkey Trot is coming: The third annual Hill and Harbour Turkey Trot takes place the Saturday after Thanksgiving on Nov. 30. The day’s activities will include a 1-mile kids fun run, a certified 5K race, DJ, face painting, and the chance to work off some of that pumpkin pie!
