2014 Global Game Jam: New England Tech is once again an official host site for the 2014 Global Game Jam, a 48-hour game design event that began Friday and goes through Sunday at 434 jam sites around the world and will include tens of thousands of participants. If you want to see what all the fuss is about, you can stop by.

Coastal Growers Winter Farmers Market: The Winter Farmers Market in North Kingstown features many vendors selling produce, meat, baked goods and artisan goods. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lafayette Mill at 650 Ten Rod Road in North Kingstown.

Fashionista Month continues: The EG Free Library continues its high fashion trend, this time at Swift Community Center for a screening of "Valentino - the Last Emperor" with introduction by Linda Welters of the Department of Fashion Merchandising at URI. This beautiful, nostalgic documentary traces the 50-year career of designer Valentino to his 70th birthday gala. The film captures this designer's influence on the way we dress, and the difficult business of fashion. On Sunday …

Adopt-A-Pet Open House: Animals are available for viewing and adoption today with the assistance of a dedicated East Greenwich Animal Protection League member. The open house takes place at Greenwich Bay Animal Hospital from 10:30 to 1 p.m. Individual appointments are also available.

OLM School Open House: Our Lady of Mercy School will host Open House and Registration for new families for the 2014-15 academic year on Sunday. Student tour guides, faculty, staff and parent ambassadors will be on hand for tours of the school, information on OLM's many extracurricular activities, as well as refreshments and activities for the prospective students and their families. 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Rocky Hill School Open House: Rocky Hill School in Potowomut is holding an open house on Sunday. The school serves preschool through grade 12 and postgraduate students. Tour their waterfront campus, see how ipads and other technologies are integrated into the classroom and learn about their unique partnerships with Save the Bay and Trinity Rep. 1 to 3 p.m.

Send Lou Ann to Sochi! fundraiser: Meet EG resident Lou Ann Botsford at Natale’s Deli and support about her quest to attend the Sochi Olympics as massage therapist to the U.S. Ski Jumping team. Suggested donation: $25 per person. In order to give Natale’s an accurate count, please contact organizers Bill Giannini or Holly Barton (sochibound@yahoo.com) if you plan to attend.

EG Boys Home Assn. Pasta Dinner: This is a buffet-style dinner with an assortment of pastas and homemade sauces, mac & cheese, local bread, salad, home made desserts, and endless coffee and lemonade. Seconds are always on us! Tickets are available at the door for $10 per adult and $5 per child under 12 years old. All proceeds are used to maintain the Scout Hall on Spring Street. EG Veteran Firemens Hall, 80 Queen St. 5:30 p.m.

Have you joined the town emergency notification list yet? The Town of East Greenwich is looking for residents to join its emergency notification system. The town can only obtain phone numbers for households with land lines; if you have a cell phone you want the town to use for emergency notifications, you need to register it with the town. You can do that from a link on the town’s home page. You’ll find the link in the upper left corner. In addition, you can sign up to receive a weekly “eNews” email from the town. Get connected!
