Adopt-A-Pet Open House: Animals are available for viewing and adoption today with the assistance of a dedicated East Greenwich Animal Protection League member. The open house takes place at Greenwich Bay Animal Hospital from 10:30 to 1 p.m. Individual appointments are also available.

A reading of “The Grinch”: Join us for a reading of Dr. Seuss' “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” at Barnes & Noble in Warwick. Enjoy Grinch-themed activities, treats and more. 1 p.m.

Build Stick Structures: Families build huge three-dimensional structures from wooden dowels and rubber bands at the Providence Children’s Museum. Create structures that are large enough to climb inside and construct a giant cube that stands up on its own! Recommended for ages 5 and up. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. 100 South Street, Providence.

Sausage-making workshop: Learn the art and craft of making delicious sausage from Chef Matt Gennuso, owner of Chez Pascal, The Wurst Kitchen, and Hewtin’s Dogs Mobile Food Truck.  Chef Matt will teach you the finer details of meat cut selection, how to season your sausage, and how to properly stuff the meat into casings.  This hands-on workshop will include instruction and sausage tasting.  Pat's Pastured (Boesch Farm), 830 South Road. From 6 to 8 p.m.
