On Saturday …

Military & History Book Sale: The Varnum Armory is holding a sale of military and history books Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be hundreds of used books covering the gamut of military and historical topics, most in excellent (like-new) condition. All proceeds go to the Varnum Armory Museum to support its efforts to preserve local history. At the Armory, 6 Main Street. First Lutheran open house: All are welcome at the open house at First Lutheran on Division Street Saturday at 3 p.m. You’ll learn how the church and its members reach out into the larger community.

St. Greg's Festival: The annual festival is back with food, rides, games, live entertainment, a country store, flea market, raffle and beer garden. On Saturday, it's open from noon to 11 p.m. Music by “Long Street Band” (3:30 to 6 p.m.) and “Triad” (7 p.m. to 11p.m.); food special: Lasagna, salad and bread. 360 Cowesett Road.

Down Syndrome Society’s Buddy Walk: The events at Goddard Park kick off with a 5K at 9 a.m. Registration for the walk begins at 10 a.m. with the walk setting off at 11. Walk to support those with Down syndrome and their families. There will be snacks, music, dancing, face painting, and games. Bring a picnic lunch. You can visit www.dssri.org for more information.

Adopt-A-Pet Open House: Animals are available for viewing and adoption today with the assistance of a dedicated East Greenwich Animal Protection League member. The open house takes place at Greenwich Bay Animal Hospital from 10:30 to 1 p.m. Individual appointments are also available.

Grief Support: This group at Christ Church is open to anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one. Each session begins with a video followed by discussion.
