Weekend Agenda: Yankee Steam-Up, Whole Family 5K, Beach Slam

On Saturday …

Frenchtown Fall Festival: Frenchtown PTG is hosting a Fall Festival with family-friendly activities including Carnival Games, a Giant Inflatable Slide, Pumpkin Decorating, Face Painting, Mini-Golf, food and more! The cost is $8 per child with proceeds going to Frenchtown School PTG. Noon to 3 p.m. at Frenchtown Elementary School.

Yankee Steam-Up: EG's own New England Wireless & Steam Engine Museum holds its annual Yankee Steam-Up today from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you've never been, stop by. It's really extraordinary! 1300 Frenchtown Road.

Land Trust Days at Briggs-Boesch Farm: Please join us on this last day of summer and enjoy a guided tour of Briggs-Boesch Farm – sheep, cows, pigs, chickens, ducks, trails, pasture, forest, oh my! There are two times available for sign up: 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The distance of each stroll will be based upon the interests and abilities of the participants.

Sing-a-Long at Goddard Park: Join Barbi from Sing With B’s Music Together for a family sing-a-long from 11 to 12:30 p.m. Click here for directions to the picnic spot. It is site #147.

Restaurant Week continues: Nearly 30 restaurants are participating in the 2nd Annual East Greenwich Restaurant Week – which is actually 10 days, through Sept. 29. The restaurants will be featuring specials and some discounts. You can learn more here.

On Sunday …

Whole Family 5K: Run through beautiful Goddard Park in this family-friendly, stroller-friendly 5K is USATF sanctioned and certified. Come early to talk to health and wellness practitioners about any minor injuries or health issues and stay afterwards to enjoy Save the Bay's free Beach Slam event (see below). Registration begins at 9:30. You can get your pre-race stretch on with yoga on the beach presented by All That Matters from 9:30 to 10 a.m. The race begins at 11 a.m.

Save the Bay Beach Slam: Enjoy a day of free beach activities at Goddard Park, including a rock wall, bouncy house, and local kayak vendors doing canoe and paddle board demos. This family-fun event also includes live entertainment, great food, rock climbing, and more. Admission is free. From noon to 5 p.m.

David-Max welcomes fall: EG’s home goods and artist boutique is starting the fall/winter season. All summer goods will be on sale and the new goods will be here and ready for a new home. Greenwich Bay Oyster Bar will be providing appetizers, Delites by Donna will have her delicious samples of chocolates and seasonal sweets, as well as music and an opportunity to meet our many collaborating artisans. We will be collecting donations for the Wildlife Rehabilitators Association of Rhode Island, to help them build a new facility. Adopt-A-Pet Open House: Animals are available for viewing and adoption today with the assistance of a dedicated East Greenwich Animal Protection League member. The open house takes place at Greenwich Bay Animal Hospital from 10:30 to 1 p.m. Individual appointments are also available.

Grief Support: This group at Christ Church is open to anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one. Each session begins with a video followed by discussion. Through helpful insights and caring and compassionate discussion, the healing process can begin. 2 p.m. For more information, contact the Christ Church office at 884-8632 or info@christchurchec.org.
