Scouting for Food pickup: The Boy Scouts are coming around Saturday morning to pick up bags filled with canned goods, they are hoping. Just leave your bag by your front door.

Ocean State Soccer Giveback Saturday: OSS will be collecting canned goods through the new program Kick Out Hunger as well as old soccer uniforms and equipment for their other program Soccer RECYCLE. Those used uniforms and soccer equipment are sent to poor communities. Please bring items between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Ocean State Soccer fields, 650 Stony Lane. Super Dog Adoption Day: Super Dog Adoption Day features more than 150 dogs and puppies looking for loving families to adopt them. Same-day adoption only with preapproved application available from AlwaysAdopt.com. Event includes free admission with on site veterinarians, dog trainers and adoption counselors. Rain or shine at Clark Farms, 2984 Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry Highway, Matunuck, at 10 a.m.

What’s It Worth, Wickford? Have your special item appraised by Daniel Buck Soules at Smith’s Castle this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Soules, who has been an auctioneer and appraiser for more than 30 years and has appeared since 1999 as an on-air appraiser on the PBS television program “Antiques Roadshow.” Soules, formerly of North Kingstown, specializes in 18th, 19th and early 20th century furniture, paintings, Shaker and silver items. Steve Marra 5K Run: The second-annual Steve Marra 5k takes place Sunday morning at 9:30 at the Grille on Main. Here’s the website about the race, which benefits the Steve Marra Foundation. You can register day of for $30. The course is similar but *better* we’re told – with runners going to Scalloptown Park during the race. There will be food and beverages served after the race. I won’t be able to make it, so if you go, take pictures and post them on the site, please!

Grief Support: This group at Christ Church is open to anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one. Each session begins with a video followed by discussion.
