Student Who Brought In BB Gun Charged With Gun Possession

As a condition of his bail, the 18-year-old is to have no contact with East Greenwich High School.

The student who brought a BB gun into East Greenwich High School Thursday morning was arrested and charged with possession of a gun, according to a statement released by the East Greenwich police Thursday afternoon. The incident took place at around 7:45 a.m., Supt. Victor Mercurio told EG Patch. David E. Constanza, 18, was arraigned before bail commissioner Michael Robinson. As a condition of bail, Constanza is to have no contact with East Greenwich High School. The case will be referred to the Rhode Island Department of Attorney General for prosecution, police said. Monday, March 4 1:34 p.m. – A Marlborough Street man told police he’d gotten a phone call from a man who said he’d won $1.5 million and a new Mercedes. The man, who spoke “broken English,” according to the report, then asked for $1,500 and the name of the Marlborough Street resident’s bank. When the resident began asking questions, the caller got frustrated and hung up. 3:27 p.m. – Police arrested Nicole Kebarian, 29, of Smithfield Road in North Providence, for shoplifting, and Jason Desautell, 38, of Manville Avenue in Manville, for conspiracy and receiving stolen goods after they were stopped in the Dave’s Market parking lot on Division Street following suspicious behavior at the CVS across the street. Woman Arrested After Driving Wrong Way On Route 4

The incident happened early Thursday morning.

State Police arrested Maryanne L. Speicher, 22, of 130 MaryAnn Way, North Attleboro, Mass., for driving north in the southbound lane of Route 4 in East Greenwich.  According to a statement released by Col. Stephen O'Donnell, State Police superintendent and public safety commissioner, Speicher was seen driving onto Route 4 from the off-ramp at Division Street at about 2:20 a.m. Thursday. The car drove past the trooper on duty, heading north in the southbound lane of Route 4 toward Route 95.  Troopers were able to stop Speicher at Route 95 before her vehicle struck oncoming traffic, according to the statement. Troopers noticed that she smelled of alcohol and that her eyes were bloodshot and watery and her speech was slurred.    She was …

Watson Case Heads To Trial In Conn.

The former state representative for East Greenwich is facing charges of drunk driving and possession of marijuana from an incident in April 2011.

Former state Rep. Bob Watson of East Greenwich will proceed to trial on drunken driving and possession of marijuana charges stemming from an April 2011 stop at a sobriety checkpoint in East Haven, Conn., the Providence Journal reported Wednesday. Watson failed to reach a plea agreement with prosecutors Tuesday in his final conference before trial. He is expected to go on trial in January in Superior Court in New Haven, according to his lawyer, Jack O’Donnell. Watson was pulled over during a routine sobriety check point set up on Friday evening, April 22, 2011, in East Haven. According to the police report, Watson had slurred speech and appeared to be intoxicated. He failed a field sobriety test and police found a small bag of marijuana …

School Committeeman Martin Arrested for Driving With Suspended License

Martin was also cited for driving an unregistered car without an up-to-date inspection.

Paul Martin, four-term School Committee member, was arrested Thursday, Aug. 9, for driving with a suspended license after he was pulled over on Division Street near Howland Road because his car bore no inspection sticker. In a routine check, police found Martin's license to be suspended. In addition, the car showed no active registration since August 2011. Initially Martin, 69, told police he could not find his registration or insurance and explained he was with the School Department. According to the report, when police told him they'd learned his license had been suspended, Martin said, "I'm going to call your chief!" Martin's car was towed from the scene. Wednesday, June 27 2:49 p.m. – A resident of Ann Drive told police he was moving out of state and wanted to turn in an old rifle he’d been given 25 years ago. Police took possession of the rifle. 4:34 p.m. – Police cited a Coventry woman for driving a car with no license plates after they saw her driving west on Division Road near Shippeetown Road. The plates had been seized by Coventry Police. The woman told police she thought she had a month to deal with the problem. That was incorrect so police had the car towed. They also noted several defects with the car, including bald back tires, bad brake pads, an exhaust pipe help up with coat hangers, a driver’s door that could only be opened from the outside and broken turn signals. Police Release Details In Recent Heroin Dealer Arrest

An informant tipped off police about heroin transactions taking place around the Normandy Rooms apartment house on Main Street.

East Greenwich Police have released additional details about the recent arrest of Kenny Peguero for dealing heroin. EG Police and members of the Drug Enforcement Agency Task Force arrested  Peguero, 21, of Diamond Street in Providence, for possessing heroin with intent to deliver on Thursday, May 24, at 3:30 p.m. The arrest was the result of a month-long investigation of activities at the Normandy Room apartments at 279 Main Street. An informant had told police about a series of heroin drug buys from a man later identified as Peguero, according to the report. Peguero would arrive in a 1999 Toyota Solara, park on Dedford Street, make a quick exchange and drive off. Police and DEA officials set up surveillance. When the Toyota turned onto …

Monday, May 14 6:11 p.m. — A Crompton Avenue resident complained about her neighbor, saying the woman had assaulted her. Police spoke to both women and learned no assault had taken place but they had had words over a dog being looked after by the complainant. Police counseled the women to avoid each other. Tuesday, May 15 2:43 a.m. — On routine patrol, police noticed the gate open to Carrs Pond on Carrs Pond Road. The lock appeared to have been cut. Police contacted the state Department of Environmental Management, which is in charge of the pond and environs. Second Suspect Arrested In Frenchtown Break

A warrant for Bruce McKenzie went out yesterday and he was picked up in East Providence today.

East Greenwich police arrested Bruce McKenzie, 23, of Cranston for breaking and entering and conspiracy in connection with a break on Frenchtown Road Monday afternoon. A warrant for McKenzie went out yesterday after police arrested Trisha M. Newman of Central Falls for conspiracy to commit a breaking and entering. McKenzie was taken into custody by East Providence police Friday morning and turned over to East Greenwich. He was arraigned at Kent County District Court. On Monday, the young girl (police said only that she was below age 15) was in the house at the time of the break. The girl barricaded herself upstairs and called 911, keeping in phone contact with police throughout the event.

On April 1, East Greenwich police arrested a 15-year-old student of East Greenwich High School on charges of threatening a public official and disorderly conduct after an essay he handed in raised concerns because of the high school shooting spree it depicted.
