Monday, May 6 11:36 a.m. – A person at New England Tech reported a hen in the parking lot. He said he saw a car pull into the parking lot, the trunk pop open and the hen jump out. He was not able to get the license plate number, according to the report. The animal control officer took possession of the hen, using a cat carrier to transport it to the police station. Before the officer had a chance to take the hen to North Kingstown Animal Hospital, she laid an egg. There was nothing in the report to indicate who took possession of the egg. Tuesday, May 7 12:18 p.m. – A Marlborough Street resident called police to report a domestic dispute, but when police tried to check out the situation, the woman at the residence refused to let them in …

Thursday, May 2 2:32 p.m. – The manager of Ruby Tuesday’s on Division Street told police two customers sitting at the bar rang up a bill of $91.75 and left without paying. The manager said this was the third time the men had done this. She said she wanted to press charges and have no trespass orders be issued if police are able to find the men. Friday, May 3 1:18 a.m. – A customer at Norman’s Tap on Main Street called police because he said he’d been assaulted. When police talked to the bartender and others, however, a different picture emerged, in which the man who called was drunk and provoked a verbal argument. Witnesses said the man was not struck, but was pushed. The owner of the bar said he wanted a no-trespass order for the man. …

Monday, April 29 11:32 a.m. – A Coventry man told police someone took his wife’s purse while they were at the McDonald’s on New London Turnpike. He said she left it in the bathroom at the restaurant and didn’t realize it was missing until she arrived home. McDonald’s did not find the purse. The purse contained a wallet, a bank account passbook and three diamond rings. 1:33 p.m. – Police arrested Alison Swift, 50, of Post Road, for driving while intoxicated, second offense, and refusing to take a chemical test, after she struck a parked car on Main Street. Because Swift had difficulty standing and was slurring her speech, police asked her to take a field sobriety test, which she did not complete. She was arrested and taken to Kent Hospital…

Friday, April 26 12:46 p.m. – A Carrs Pond Road resident showed police a wooded area of his property where trash had been dumped, including two piles of brush, a white rattan bench, pieces of lumber and plastic flower pots. Police suggested he hang a chain between trees to block vehicles and post no-trespassing signs. 1:31 p.m. – The chef at Sienna restaurant told police someone took four cast-iron planters that had been moved behind the building to be cleaned on Thursday. Monday, April 22 12:11 p.m. – An East Greenwich woman told police she had been assaulted by her boyfriend, with whom she lives, in the early morning hours. She said she hadn’t contacted police right away out of fear. Police referred the woman to the domestic violence advocate and issued a warrant for the boyfriend. 3:30 p.m. – Police arrested Ronald J. Fournier, 32, of Sylvan Drive, on a warrant for charges of domestic assault and disorderly conduct at his home. Thursday, April 18 5:05 p.m. – Police arrested Jeffrey Laychak, 27, of Laurel Ridge Lane in North Kingstown, for driving with a suspended license after he was pulled over on Main Street because of an expired inspection sticker. Routine checks turned up the license violation as well as car registration suspension. Police had the car towed from the scene and released Laychak with a court summons. Friday, April 19 12:28 a.m. – Police arrested Michelle Weinberg, 45, of Frenchtown Road, for driving while in intoxicated and refusing to take a chemical breath test, after she was pulled over because she’d almost hit a police car on Division Street. Monday, April 15 1:05 p.m. – A man from Newport Biodiesel told police said he’d heard a report from Dave’s Market employees about two suspicious men removing oil from the Newport Diesel collection bin behind the market. The men said they had permission, but after they’d driven off in a van, employees found the bin’s lock had been cut and approximately 40 to 50 gallons of oil missing, valued at $150. The description of the van given by the Dave’s employees matched that of the van from a similar incident in West Warwick. The Dave’s employees gave police the license plate number, which matched the other vehicle. Thursday, April 4 8:01 a.m. – A resident of Shoreside Apartments complained to police about his downstairs neighbor having loud conversations at 3 a.m. He told police he had spoken to Sgt. Carter before about hearing threatening talk from the neighbor. Police then talked to the man downstairs, who denied having late or loud conversations. Police said to be mindful of the volume of his conversations. 9:49 a.m. – An East Greenwich woman told police she was thinking of starting divorce proceedings against her husband because he had abused her for years. Monday, April 1 9:50 a.m. and 1 p.m. – Residents of Liberty and Somerset streets complained about trucks and parking issues related to the Alex and Ani distribution warehouse on Liberty Street. In the morning, police got a report of a tractor-trailer blocking the roadway. Police spoke with the manager, who said he would arrange to have smaller trucks make deliveries. At 1 p.m., a resident flagged down police to complain about cars parked on Somerset Street all day. There is no restriction posted limiting the length of time cars can be parked on the street, but after police got another call, this one about the parking and about decreased visibility at the corner, they spoke again with the manager. Thursday, March 28 12:17 p.m. – The animal control officer followed up on a complaint about an unleashed dog at 75 Signal Ridge Way. There were two dogs running off the property unleashed on this afternoon, one belonging to a relative, according to the homeowner. The ACO had notified the owner several times before this, dating back 18 months, telling him to get his dog licensed and to keep it on a leash when off the property, with no result. 3:43 p.m. – Police arrested Joshua H. White, 31, of Taft Street in Cranston, on a bench warrant after he was stopped on Post Road because he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. Routine checks turned up the warrant. He was processed at the station, then transferred to the ACI. His car was towed from the scene. …
