East Greenwich Tree Guide

Buying a cut tree this season? EG Patch has a list of local spots and a link to places farther afield.

The trees appear right after Thanksgiving at a select number of places in town – in front of the Greenwich Club, over on Frenchtown Road at John’s Bait & Tackle and at Briarbrook Nursery on South County Trail. In the old days, of course, Christmas trees didn't go up until Dec. 24, with the biggest part of the holiday being celebrated between Christmas and New Year's. These days, we’re putting up our trees earlier and earlier. If you are buying a cut tree, however, fire safety requires that you do everything you can to make sure it stays fresh for the duration of its holiday life. That means water – lots of it, tree sellers say. After the season, the town will take your tree if you leave it UNWRAPPED on the curb with the rest of your trash…

Need a Christmas Tree?

The clock's ticking. Do you have your tree yet?

They're back. The red bows. The poinsettias. The white frosted or multi-colored string lights. The giant inflatable Santa perched on the front lawn. Christmas decorations are back, which obviously means it's time to get your Christmas (or holiday) tree. Haven't even thought about it? No need to panic (yet). We Patch folk have put together a list for those in the South County area. From tree farms to nurseries, we've put together a local brew of places right in South County offering great selections on trees.

The Farmer's Daughter also offers a good selection of recently harvested Christmas trees, also from their own farm. These are very nice trees, prices are reasonable, and service is excellent - including giving the tree a fresh cut, shaking off any loose needles, wrapping it in plastic mesh to facilitate transportation and installation, and securing it on your car rack. Highly recommended.   more ›
