EG Residents Named To Fall '12 Dean's Lists

The first of a series of articles listing area students who've been named to their school's dean's list.

This time of year, colleges and universities release the names of those students who've earned a spot on their Dean's List. Here are some of those who've been named. We will be running additional Dean's List articles in coming days.  The following students have been named to the Dean's List at the University of New Hampshire for the fall semester of the 2012-13 academic year: Emily Lewin, Michelle Riggs, and Melanie Rosen earned high honors; Susan Navilliat earned honors. Highest Honors are awarded to students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.85 or better out of a possible 4.0. Students with a 3.65 to 3.84 average are awarded high honors and students whose grade point average is 3.5 through 3.64 are awarded honors. Kaylee …

EG's Bannon Sets Shutout Record At Long Island University

Goalkeeper Jennifer Bannon, a 2009 graduate of East Greenwich High School, recorded three consecutive shutouts.

Jennifer Bannon started playing soccer as a 5 year old in East Greenwich, as many kids here do. She just never stopped. Now, as a senior at Long Island University in New York, she recently set a three-game shutout record as goalkeeper for the LIU Blackbirds. "Senior goalkeeper Jennifer Bannon is always tough to beat in net and recorded her 21st career shutout last Wednesday [Oct. 3] in a 1-0 win against Bryant University," wrote Matt Levine for BigAppleSoccer.com this week. “It kind of just happened,” she told Levine. “I’ve been focusing on winning another championship and on the team." EG Students Named To College Dean's List

These are some East Greenwich college students named to Spring 2012 dean's lists.

The following from East Greenwich were named to their college’s dean’s list for the Spring 2012 semester. To see the lists that ran last month, click here. If you have a college student who made a dean’s list that we have not yet run, please send an email with the information to elizabeth.mcnamara@patch.com. Dean’s lists are released by colleges and universities over a six-week (or so) period. We welcome submissions and will publish them sporadically over that time period.   Thomas Perrelli, a member of the class of 2015 from East Greenwich, has been named to the spring 2012 Dean's List at Loyola University Maryland. In order to qualify for the Dean's List at Loyola, a student must have a GPA of at least 3.5 with a minimum of 15 credits. …

From Providence College to CCRI to Keene State, a number of local students make the grade.

The students named on dean's lists from the following colleges are all residents of East Greenwich. At Providence College, these students made the Dean's List for the fall 2011 semester: Marc Capuano, a member of the class of 2012; Gregory Duffy, a member of the class of 2015; Kelly Harrop, a member of the class of 2014; Kelly Lamoreaux, a member of the class of 2013; Brooke MacDonald, a member of the class of 2014; Colleen O'Brien, a member of the class of 2013; Meghan White, a member of the class of 2014. EGHS Alum Nick Ross Still Running Strong

The track star may have jumped from a small pond into a bigger one now that he’s at college, but he continues to be a standout.

Nick Ross, a freshman at La Salle University in Philadelphia, returned to Rhode Island last weekend for the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Championship at URI and came away with the Outstanding Rookie award. He ran an A-10 record time in the 3K race, but lost to Richmond’s Andrew Benford, who ran an even faster record time than Ross. It was enough, however, to earn the rookie award. That it was kind of a “home” meet for Ross made the difference, he said. “I think that’s what did it for me,” Ross said in a phone interview earlier this week, “the motivation to run well in front of my family and friends.” In addition to family members, including grandparents, several EGHS friends who are students at URI turned out as well. “He has quite a …
