State police say there was no evidence of reckless conduct on Sept. 28 when Benjamin Servideo's car rear-ended Sullynette Sanchez's car, killing her and the baby she was carrying.
The driver in a fatal crash on Route 4 in East Greenwich on Sept. 29, 2012, pleaded guilty to two traffic violations Thursday morning at the R.I. Traffic Tribunal in Cranston. Benjamin Servideo, 24, of Newport, will be sentenced on Feb. 26 for failing to respond to conditions requiring reduced speed and failing to maintain control of his car. A third violation, failing to maintain adequate space between vehicles, was dropped. Servideo's car rear-ended the car driven by Sullynette Sanchez, 23, of Providence, who was 8 months pregnant. Sanchez died on the way to the hospital. Her baby, a boy, was born afterwards but only lived for two weeks. Asst. Attorney General Stephen Regine said the state police found no evidence to bring criminal …

Rep. Bob Watson does not appear in court for his drug possession charge.
East Greenwich Rep. Bob Watson, R-30, had his arraignment on marijuana possession charges continued to March 1 Thursday morning in South Kingstown. He was not in court. His lawyer, Timothy Williamson, told Judge Mary McCaffrey his client was in treatment out of state for substance abuse. Watson was arrested Saturday, Jan. 21, in South Kingstown after he was caught with a baggie of marijuana and a pipe in a parking lot on Tower Hill Road. Although the police report stated that Watson appeared to be very drunk and the snow plow operator who called 911 said he saw Watson drive into the lot and pull into a snowbank, police did not give the former House Minority Leader a field sobriety test or ask him to submit to a chemical alcohol-detection …

The admission came less than two weeks before the girl's death, for which her mother is on trial for murder.
Less than two weeks before her daughter's death, Kimberly Fry told her family's therapist she blamed the 8-year-old for her depression, thought she was an incompetent mother and felt the situation was hopeless. Wendy Phillips, a family therapist with Rhode Island Hospital, said she was concerned upon hearing such an admission that Fry may be at risk of harming herself, noting that the word "hopeless" is thought to be a red flag in her profession. While she said Fry convinced her during the July 28, 2009, meeting that "she was just upset" and not at risk of hurting herself, Phillips directed Fry's husband, Tim, to monitor her behavior and take her to the emergency room if necessary. Just less than two weeks later, Camden Fry died of …
