Power returns, school resumes: After three unplanned days off, EG Public Schools are back in session. Power was restored to Meadowbrook, EGHS, and Frenchtown late afternoon Wednesday, allowing for school to resume. Trash pickup: If your trash is usually picked up on Wednesdays, it will be picked up today. The remainder of the week will have a one-day delay. If you have storm debris, DPW asks you move it to the curb and they will pick it up as soon as they can. No yard waste will be picked up this week. Town crews will resume yard waste pickup once emergency cleanup is over. A water dock would be of particular help to owners of moored boats, who now have to carry on all the water they need and can't wash down their boats after a trip.
Greenwich Cove could get a water dock, which would be able to supply boats with water, if the Cove Commission decides to present the issue to the Town Council. Right now, if you moor your boat in the cove, whenever you need water to do anything, you must bring it onboard. You end up carrying a lot of water. Right now, commissioners said, people with boats on moorings are stuck if they don't belong to a club. “Even I’ve got the problem because I keep the patrol boat at the town dock and there’s no water there,” said Town Harbormaster Jim Cullen during a meeting Tuesday of the EG Cove Management Commission.
