Bronco Blowout Earns Avengers Playoff Spot

EG Football team wins against Burrillville, 48 to 0.

The Avengers hit on all cylinders Friday night in their game against the Broncos. Although Burrillville seemed to come out with some steam at the start of the game, they were no match against Av’s superior defense and EG just kept scoring, ending the game with a 48-0 blowout. A few minutes before the end of the first quarter, EG’s Alex Cleary started off the scoring, with a running touchdown, followed by his successful extra point kick. The Av’s offense was explosive in the second quarter, with a running touchdown by Carney Crawford, followed by a short passing touchdown by Jeremy Streich. Trash pickup: If your trash is usually picked up on Fridays, it will be picked up on Saturday. The remainder of the week will have a one-day delay. If you have storm debris, DPW asks you move it to the curb and they will pick it up as soon as they can. Yard waste pick up will resume next week and the Transfer Station will be open Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., but town officials ask you to keep storm debris separate, since the town will not have to pay the tipping fee for its disposal. RIHS Football Poll – Week 4

La Salle stays at No. 1, while East Greenwich moves up one spot, to 14.

La Salle is still ranked No. 1 in the state, but Hendricken is gaining, and Cranston East also remains in the hunt for the top ranking in the fourth week of the Rhode Island High School Football Media Poll. The top four of the poll remain unchanged, as La Salle, Hendricken, Cranston East and Portsmouth all won their games. The Johnston Panthers round out the top five, thanks to a 48-0 drubbing of Toll Gate. Shea (No. 15) and Coventry (No. 20) are new to the poll this week. Shea had an impressive win against No. 12 West Warwick, and Coventry beat Warwick Vets 40-8. East Greenwich continued its winning ways last weekend, with its own 40-0 win over Lincoln. The Avengers face Moses Brown (ranked 16 this week) Saturday at 2:30 in Providence. …
