Calling All Photographers: Capture Springtime In EG

Have a great photo, painting or drawing that you think will be a perfect cover photo for our Facebook page? Upload it now!

Spring is FINALLY here! It's time to provide and then vote on photos that reflect spring in East Greenwich for the cover spot on our Facebook page. So, from now through Monday, April 29, we'll be accepting spring-themed submissions here. Whether it's a photo of flowers, a historic building, the harbor or people just going about their day, we want to see your take on springtime in East Greenwich. Be creative! There's no age requirement to submit: You just have to be a EG Patch user and be able to create a 100 percent original piece of work owned by you for us to use. Town Picture Wins It In Facebook Cover Contest

The shot, submitted by Rebecca Moniz, was taken from Goddard Park.

The votes have been counted and Rebecca Moniz's photo of East Greenwich from the opposite side of Greenwich Cove was the overwhelming favorite, with 19 votes.  In an email, Moniz said winter is the ideal season to get this particular shot. "This photo was taken in January while on a snow shoe hike in Goddard Park," she said. "I took the same angle last year, but this year the light was much better and seemed to illuminate the courthouse and the flag in front of it. Plus, there are still boats in their slips. I love the look of the town from this viewpoint. It just exemplifies the Hill/Harbor area of town. It never looks the same in the other months. I tried getting the same feel during different seasons but this is the most idyllic time  …

Deadline To Vote On Facebook Privacy Changes Ends Monday

Facebook users have seven days to vote for or against new site governance and privacy policy changes.

This week may be your last opportunity to vote on proposed privacy changes on Facebook. The social media site has opened up polls for users to vote on a number of policy updates to the site's Statement of Rights and Responsibilities and Data Use Policy. Among those changes would be the abolition of users option to vote on changes in favor of a question-submission and webcasts. Voting opened Tuesday and will end on Monday, Dec. 10. Thirty percent of Facebook's population would need to vote against the changes to stop them from passing. The poll closes at 3 p.m. on Dec. 10. So what changes are being proposed?
