Three EGHS athletes earn All State first team honors.
A number of EGHS athletes were honored at the end of the fall season with awards from coaches and from the Providence Journal. For the second year in a row, Aleksandra Drljaca made the All State first team for tennis. The sophomore led the Avengers to their second-place finish in Division II. Junior Keri Pallister was named to the All State first team for field hockey. The Avengers field hockey team lost to Barrington in double overtime in the state finals. “It was really nice,” said Pallister. “I wasn’t expecting all those awards at the end of the season.” Pallister also was named first team All Division, as well as earning an award from the East Greenwich Pendulum. From the smoldering heat of the late days of August to the brisk afternoons of November, the East Greenwich High School fall sports teams have had a very successful season once again. As most Avenger fall sports teams head into the playoffs, others have already said goodbye to great seasons. After a loss to Woonsocket in the Division 1 state championship last week, the Avenger’s Special Olympics Unified Volleyball team said goodbye to another flourishing season. Along with the Unified team, the girl’s volleyball season unfortunately ended on Wednesday. They lost in their playoff game against LaSalle. The Girls Tennis team made it to the state finals for the second year in a row, losing to Smithfield in a tight contest. In Cross Country, …
