Blood Drive: The bloodmobile will be outside of Starbucks on Main Street this afternoon from 3 to 7 p.m. The R.I. Blood Center lost nearly 600 donations during last week’s blizzard, so donations are extra-appreciated! Winter vacation week: February break can be a challenge. If you have a great winter vacation idea, please share it here. Water Street closed: Water Street at the Barbara Tuft's Playground (Lion Street) will be closed 24 hours a day for approximately 5 weeks. No traffic will be able to pass because of the vertical trench sheeting that will be in the road. Scouting for Food pickup today! The Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of Narragansett Council distributed food collection bags last Saturday and they will pick up the bags today, Nov. 3. Don't worry if you don't have the actual bag anymore. Any bag will do! Just leave it – with canned and dry goods only – outside your front door by 9 a.m. on Saturday. Most needed items are canned meats, soups, or stews, peanut butter, canned fruits and vegetables, beans, pasta, and pasta sauce. If it is more convenient, you may take your food donation to Walgreens. Zoning Board meeting: On the agenda is consideration of zoning variance requests for a Quick Lube at the northeast corner of Frenchtown Road and South County Trail. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at Town Hall. Art Exhibit @ Crestar: MJ Yeager and Jill McLaughlin are exhibiting their artwork through July 5 at Crestar Picture Framing in East Greenwich. The South County artists will be showing mixed media artwork with complementary abstract, dreamlike themes in their first exhibit together. Crestar is located at 51 Liberty St., behind Centerville Bank and across from the CVS drive-through window.
