Resident Says Bus Drop Off On Tanglewood Too Dangerous

Bruce Fox says middle school children have to negotiate the traffic caused by parents picking up their kids.

Bruce Fox grew up at 120 Tamarack Drive and lives there now, so he's no stranger to the traffic that collects there come 7:15 a.m. and 2 p.m. on weekdays during the school year. He's used to kids crossing over his property on their way to or from East Greenwich High School.  That he can live with. What he doesn't like is that beginning of this school year, a middle school bus stop was changed so that his 12-year-old and at least two other Cole Middle School students are dropped off at Tanglewood Drive at Larch Road have to navigate the traffic to get from the drop-off point to their homes. Oddly-Behaving Fox Euthanized By Police On South Pierce Road

The fox had been roaming openly in the neighborhood for weeks

Police euthanized a fox on South Pierce Road yesterday afternoon after residents called because it was sitting in front of 135 So. Pierce Rd. eating a squirrel, seemingly oblivious to the cars and people nearby, according to a resident of the area. Michelle Montecalvo said that there are “a ton” of foxes in the neighborhood but that they stay back. “I’ve never seen one roam so openly in the broad daylight,” she wrote via email. This particular fox, she wrote, “has been plaguing the South Pierce Road neighborhood for weeks.” Montecalvo said that she and others had been concerned enough to restrict their children from playing outside. “Several years ago we had a woman bitten in the area ... so we were extra cautious,” she said. “It's very …

Re: the coyote pup that was shot. It's been a week and I am still upset. I'd like to clarify the definition of the word "euthanize". According to the World English Dictionary, "euthanize" means to kill PAINLESSLY. I doubt being shot is painless.
