Adopt-an-Animal Spotlight

Weekly spotlight of a animal looking for a new home.

This week we are featuring a cat named Harvest. She is a spayed female that just had her third birthday. She has been at the EGAPL for almost a year and is more then ready to find a home. Ideally she would like to be an only child but can get along with others as long as they are mellow like her. she is very sweet and loves to be pet and to play. "She has plumped up but will slim down once she finds a home," said Nancy Dyer, who looks after the cats.   If you are interested in adopting Harvest or any other of the animals available through the EGAPL, or perhaps you'd like to volunteer, contact Nancy Dyer at 732-8223 or egapl@care2.com.  The EGAPL is located in the Greenwich Bay Animal Hospital, 5732 Post Road in East Greenwich.

Adopt-an-Animal Spotlight

Weekly spotlight of a animal looking for a new home.

Say hello to Raven. She currently is cared for by the East Greenwich Animal Protection League but is looking for a special family to look after her. There is nothing unlucky about this 13-year-old black cat. She has big beautiful yellow eyes and “she has a lot of spunk,” said Nancy Dyer, who looks after the cats at the EGAPL. Raven plays well with others and loves to explore. She is always looking to be pet or brushed and loves to purr. If you are interested in adopting Raven or any other of the animals available through the EGAPL, or perhaps you'd like to volunteer, contact Nancy Dyer at 732-8223 or egapl@care2.com. The EGAPL is located in the Greenwich Bay Animal Hospital, 5732 Post Rd., in East Greenwich.

Thanks so much, Dan! Wonderful pictures of beautiful Raven. The East Greenwich Animal Protection League has so many wonderful, grown cats that would love to curl up in a home and keep people company. Like Paulette said, everyone loves a kitten (they are small and adorable) but cats provide just as much love and they won't climb your curtains. Raven is just one of the many wonderful cats that …   more ›

Lemonade Stand, Bake Sale Generate $100 For Homeless Animals

Two students get a big thank you from the East Greenwich Animal Protection League

Ten-year-old Courtney Wegrzyn didn’t like what she saw in a television documentary about animals without homes being taken to shelters and wrote herself a note to do something about it. She recruited her friend, 11-year-old Julia Kausel, and together they set out to raise some money. Their first venture was a neighborhood lemonade stand a couple of weeks ago, which did pretty well. Then they decided to take the show on the road. They put the lemonade in a wagon and went door to door. Neighbors were receptive, especially when they heard where the money was going. The big project was a bake sale, which required a lot of advance work.  But when they opened their stand business was good. Some of their very best customers were the guys working …

I want to thank Courtney and Julia very much for their wonderful fundraiser. I was so happy and honored to meet these girls at the shelter and tell them how their money will be used to care for our animals. I can't state how happy I am when I receive calls that someone has raised money for the league. Every cent goes straight towards the animals and that is what makes it all worthwhile. Thank you…   more ›

Weekly spotlight of a animal looking for a new home.

This solid black pit bull is named Luna. She is a 10-month-old spayed female being looked after at the East Greenwich Animal Protection League but is looking for a loving home.  Luna is a pit bull but don't let that fool you, she is full of love and has almost completed Canine Good Citizen training. Her file reads, "Very sweet girl, LOVES car rides and to give you lots of kisses." She can be nervous around new people but it doesn't take long for her to warm to them according to EGAPL's Capri Lanning-Cafaro.  If you are interested in adopting Luna or any other of the animals available through the EGAPL, or perhaps you'd like to volunteer, contact Tammy at 241-4541 or egapl@care2.com.  The EGAPL is located in the Greenwich Bay Animal …

I have also walked Luna as a new volunteer & recently took her in my car to Goddard Park. She is a wonderful "kiss-bull" and just an awesome dog - intelligent, obedient, lovey, and overall a very chill disposition. Please stop by EGAPL & meet her - she will make a great addition to your family!   more ›

Weekly spotlight of a animal looking for a new home.

Dexter is a male neutered Doberman Pinscher mix. After he was rescued, Dexter was treated for a broken leg and is staying at Greenwich Bay Animal Hospital courtesy of the East Greenwich Animal Protection League. Dexter still has a lot of puppy left in him and is looking for a new family that can keep up with him.  "Dexter is a very quick learner" said Capri Lanning-Cafaro. "I trained him to sit in one afternoon." She admits he can be a little wacky and rambuctous but said it's just because he get so excited when people want to play, especially with a tenis ball. Dexter gets along with eveyone around the EGAPL, even the cats. If you are interested in adopting Dexter or any other of the animals available through the EGAPL, or perhaps you'd …

Thank you so much, Dan! It is true that Murphy is one of my favorites, although I love all the animals we have - they have such distinct personalities (such as Bobby in the photo above, he just wanted to hug). We have a lot of cats/kittens and would love to have more active volunteers with the organization. If anyone is interested in volunteering please feel free to send me an e-mail and I will …   more ›
