Pedestrians Struck in Hit-and-Run

A man and a woman are transported to area hospitals, one with potentially serious injuries.

Two pedestrians were struck in a hit-and-run accident on Main Street Tuesday night, one of whom was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital with what appeared to be a serious head injury. Rescue workers arrived at 162 Main St., in front of the Greenwich Hotel, just before midnight after a 911 call reporting a pedestrian hit by a car. Fire and rescue personnel actually found two victims at the scene — a 40-year-old woman with a lower leg injury, and a 49-year-old man, who was unconscious and looked to have a serious head injury, according to EG Fire Chief Peter Henrikson. The car that hit the two had fled the scene, Henrikson said. The man was taken to Rhode Island Hospital and the woman was transported to Kent County Hospital. Officials are not …

ok the women mentioned is my cousin and emotionally she's not doing well and in a lot of pain, how can anyone even think to blame her for crossing in a marked crosswalk, where there's signs everywhere to yield for pedestrians, and the speed limit is what 25???? a person should be able to cross the street an if someone hits them ..... my god stop!!!!!!!!!   more ›
