Attic Fire On Hemlock Drive Causes Smoke, Water Damage

A neighbor alerted the East Greenwich Fire District after seeing smoke coming from the house.

A neighbor of a house on Hemlock Drive notified the East Greenwich Fire District to a fire after seeing smoke coming from the house at around 2:50 p.m. Friday. No one was home at the time of the fire, which was confined to the attic according to Deputy Fire Chief Russell McGillvray. No other houses were threatened. Damage to the house was extensive however because of the smoke and the water used to put out the fire, he said. The house is uninhabitable.  "There’s been a considerable amount of damage to the house," said McGillvray.
