EGHS Track Ready For State Meet

The state meet takes place Saturday.

The East Greenwich High School boys and girls outdoor track teams are heading into their final weekend of competition, culminating at Saturday’s R.I. State Meet starting at 12:30 p.m. at Brown University. Senior standout Jaimee Dorsey has a chance to sweep three events and break the Rhode Island girls state meet records in the 100, 200 and 400 meters. The boys are led by senior Chris Millman, owner of the third-fastest 800 meter time in the state (1:58.7) and sixth best 1500 meters with a time of 4:07.6. Both teams enjoyed success the past two weekends, starting at the Girls Class C Championships held on May 19, where the Lady Avengers placed first among 12 teams with 115 points. EGHS Runner Breaks RI Indoor Record In 300 Meters

Senior Jaimee Dorsey clocked 39.92 seconds at the New England Championships, breaking the 2003 mark of 40.23.

Jaimee Dorsey, a senior at East Greenwich High School, broke a state record at last week's New England Indoor Track Championships, running the 300 meters in 39.92 seconds. Her time beat the 2003 state record of 40.23 set by Allison Fogarty of La Salle. Dorsey finished third in the race, which took place at the Reggie Lewis Track Complex in Roxbury on March 2. It was especially sweet because she finished ahead of Hope High School’s Royal Cheatham, someone she’s competed against since freshman year and who came in first to Dorsey’s second in the Rhode Island championship in February. “I've been determined to chase and beat Royal since I met her at Freshman States … so you can only imagine my excitement to both PR [personal best] and beat …
