$1 Million Lottery Ticket Sold In EG

Wednesday night's PowerBall drawing matched a ticket purchased at Lux Oil on South County Trail.

Happy news for a PowerBall ticket holder who bought his or her ticket at Lux Oil in East Greenwich this week – $1 million worth of happy news. The PowerBall drawing Wednesday night pulled two winning Rhode Island-purchased numbers, including the East Greenwich one. The other prize, $10,000, is for a ticket purchased at Chelo's, 505 Silver Spring Street, Providence. As of 12:30 p.m. Thursday, neither prize had been claimed. The $1 million ticket matched five numbers but not the PowerBall number, for the standard payout of $1 million, the Rhode Island Lottery announced Thursday. If the Power Play feature was added for an extra dollar, the prize would have doubled. Have You Bought A Powerball Ticket Yet?

With the jackpot now up to $550 million, it seems everyone is playing the lottery today.

He walked into East Greenwich Farms after noon on Wednesday wearing a nice suit and a large gold ring, and carrying a fistful of dollars.  "I want 105 Powerball tickets," he said, refusing to identify himself. On a sheet of paper, he had the names of everyone from his office who'd contributed to the pool – 35 names in total.   Transactions like that have been taking place at convenience stores – and some restaurants – all around East Greenwich today. The Powerball jackpot was up to $550 million by midday, the biggest pot ever. No one, it seems, wanted to be left out. The drawing at 11 p.m. tonight will more than likely turn up at least one winner. The jackpot is so big because there hasn't been a winner since mid-October, according to …

The Circus Is Coming To Town — But Signups Close Today

Running away with the circus was never this easy!

Joining the circus is a fantasy many of us have had over the years. The Cultural Organization for the Arts will bring that fantasy to life for 25 students of Hanaford and Eldredge later this month. But if you want your child to be part of it, you've got to enter the lottery for a place today. COA is offering the after-school Circus Smirkus workshop, which will run from Jan. 30 through Feb. 3, with a culminating performance to be held on that last evening. The Vermont-based youth circus group will work with students for two hours each afternoon. “Circus Smirkus is a great educational organization teaching the circus arts,” explained COA director Lisa Sussman. “They have recently begun offering these week-long workshops to students and, of …

$200,000 PowerBall Winner Bought Ticket At Richard's Pub

The winner - who bought the ticket on Saturday - has yet to claim the prize.

Employees at Richard's Restaurant and Pub on South County Trail had only one thing to say they learned that someone had won $200,000 from a PowerBall ticket bought there on Saturday.  "It wasn't me," said more than one person forlornly on Tuesday. The Rhode Island Lottery doesn't know who it is yet either. But another winning PowerBall ticket was sold in nearby Warwick. That ticket - bought at Mega Milk Mart on West Shore Road - was claimed earlier today.  According to the RI Lottery website, the $200,000 winning ticket matched all five numbers, but not the PowerBall number. The winner did not purchase the PowerPlay feature. It the person had, the prize would have automaticallty become a $1 million prize. On the other hand, the Warwick …
