Thanksgiving is days away. If you're like me, your panic level is beginning to rise. But have no fear. There is plenty of help right here in East Greenwich. Let's start with turkeys. Need a bird? For the first time (in recent history anyway), you can buy an East Greenwich pastured-raised bird at Pat's Pastured, the farming business at Boesch Farm on South Road. If you haven't reserved a bird, take your chances on Tuesday between 2 to 7 p.m., when turkeys are being picked up. There will be centerpieces, pies and vegetables for sale at the farm that day too. Meadowbrook Farms School held its annual Take & Bake Thanksgiving pie event on the Tuesday, Nov. 22. The event was a huge success with 55 students in kindergarten through third grade taking part. The students had fun preparing their own apple pies and topping them with unique creative designs. They also came away with a big sense of accomplishment, knowing they were contributing to their family’s holiday meal. In addition, the event raised close to $500 for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. For every $1 donated, the Food Bank is able to acquire and distribute 3 pounds of food. That means the Meadowbrook Take & Bake event will help to put almost 1,500 pounds of food on the tables of those who need it. Great job kids! This article was …
